Writing and poetry have been a major component of my life since I was very little. From writing my mother those special little poems we write when we are eight years old, I developed a love for verse. My mother’s passion for books fanned the flames in my heart for the written word. So in the privacy of my notebooks and computer screens, for years I spilled my heart out to void.
In the year 2000, my poetry took a turn when I heard the fire of the Black Poets Collective in Kansas City. I didn’t know what poetry could be until then. So I began the path of the spoken word artist until I came to the crossworads of Performance and Ministry and I am happy to say I believe I have found my balance. My performance is more Passion than Spectacle… more Personal than Crowd-Pleasing. I write and speak what is in my heart.
