Life After Advocacy and the idea of 1 Small Voice is so important to me that I am on a mission to speak to and perform as much as possible. I do not have the luxury of a national platform… yet. I do not have the power of a well-known name… yet. I can not rely on my celebrity status or big bankaccount… yet. All I have is my one small voice that will not be quieted. I have a fire burning inside me to be real about what’s happening behind closed doors, but more importantly what awaits the healed person who is willing to open those doors.
“This Is the Poem” is my personal testmony and I perform this piece with passion and an anointing. I really believe that. If I lose my voice performing this piece, it will not have been in vain. This is my gift back to the thousands of boys, girls, men and women living with this pain. I am dedicated to this mission and I welcome your support of what I am doing.
Spoken word is very real with me and I am not all new in this genre. In 2006, I won the September Jazz Poetry Jams slam at the 18th & Vine Blue Room in Kansas City, MO. I have held solo feature performances at HIS WILL (www.4hiswill.com) and at ULIT (Urban Literation) spoken word venues in Kansas City. The pleasure has been mine to share the stage with Dr. Bill Cosby, smooth Jazz guitarist Norman Brown, HBO Def Jam poets Abyss, Georgia Me and Tommie Bottoms. Locally, I consider it an honor to have shared the stage with talented poets such as Spo-Kan Vizion, Yep, Lost Soul, Bonafyde G, Ja’Von, J’Wash, Teianna, Deacon and many, many more. Local gospel rappers like Voicebox, Dre Sr., Solo, and others are among my favorite and who offer me inspiration.

Shaquana Wallace on receiveing thruth. Courage,humility,and freightening are all words that can be used to explain how to face the realities about ourselves. To find the truth in all of our lives we all must be willing to roll up our sleeves and get down and dirty. As with anything thats worth fighting for its easy to get side track and not as dealagent as we should be. I’ve heard people say before “how hard life or a situation is, its as if you take to steps forward and one step back”. But as long as your still processing forward everystep we take is indeed useful.
